WHAT IS IT?

An American High School Diploma

International high school students can earn two diplomas! In addition to their local school's diploma, they can study online in the U.S. Dual Diploma program and achieve an American high school diploma. Students improve their academic English and prepare themselves for English-speaking universities and global careers.

WHO IS IT FOR?

International High School Students

The U.S. Dual Diploma program is for high school students who live outside the U.S. and desire an international high school experience from home. Students will learn through an American-style education, which will help them stand out from their peers. Beyond academics, students become part of a global student community, developing relationships with new friends around the world.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Online Learning with U.S. Teachers

Students earn their American high school diploma by working through online courses in English taught by U.S. teachers. Taking a combination of core and elective courses, students complete 10 semester-length courses in addition to their local curriculum. As part of the U.S. Dual Diploma program, successful graduates benefit from advising sessions, a global online community, preferred university admissions, scholarships, and more.

U.S. Dual Diploma Program Sample Academic Plan

International high school students complete 10 semester-length courses in English Literature, World History, and electives. The course selection complements most countries’ curricula while supporting students in developing advanced academic English. Elective course options prepare students for careers and explore university majors.

Sequencing of courses considers the language skills required in assignments as well as the English proficiency needed. These considerations help students more effectively develop their academic English language skills and succeed in international universities and careers.

What English level is required to participate in the U.S. Dual Diploma Program?

We offer options for any English level. Beginners may take our ELL courses (for grades K–12) to prepare for other coursework in English. Grades K–5 may take academic courses with an A1 or A2 level depending on the grade. Academic courses for grades 6–12 require a B1 and above CEFR level to participate. U.S. Dual Diploma students below a B1 level may substitute an English course for their first elective to bring their English to B1 level.

Participating universities are eager to admit Hudson Global Scholars because of the quality of our program and the preparedness of our graduates. Our graduates have a high level of English proficiency, the ability to study in an English-speaking classroom, and the work-ethic to succeed.
