On a sunny June morning, Delfin Keçeciler arrived on the Providence Country Day School campus with her father and twin sister, Alya. Delfin, who lives in Türkiye, studied online to earn her U.S. Diploma with the Hudson Global Scholars Dual Diploma program during high school. She and her family had traveled thousands of miles for a very special celebration: graduation!

Years ago, Delfin had planned to come to the United States for a summer academic camp, but the Covid pandemic changed her plans. At the time, travel was impossible, but Hudson Global Scholars opened a door to international learning opportunities. Delfin discovered she could study online at a U.S. school through their Dual Diploma program. She dual enrolled at Bahçeşehir College in Türkiye and at Providence Country Day Global Campus. This spring, she completed both programs, earning her Turkish and U.S. diplomas.

As Delfin and her family walked through the Providence Country Day campus, they used a classroom map to point out their home city of Izmir, located on the Aegean coast of Türkiye. Delfin and her dad contrasted the learning environments, observing differences between the desk arrangements, multi-use rooms, and variety of accessories in Turkish and American classrooms as well as the similarities in classroom technology.

Also on campus for Delfin’s graduation celebration was Ashley Burney, Instructional Manager of International Programs at Hudson Global Scholars. “Witnessing Delfin’s remarkable achievement and growth over her academic journey was truly inspiring,” said Mrs. Burney. “It underscored the profound impact of our work and highlighted why we are committed to supporting students like Delfin in communities all over the world.”

Delfin reflected on the challenges and benefits of the U.S. Dual Diploma program. Delfin remarked, “it was challenging at first to take the classes completely in English, but it got easier, and having the English classes became a valuable experience.” She noted that her favorite class was an English Literature course. The teachers she studied with were always helpful and interesting, making learning a pleasant experience.

Delfin’s family was a huge support to her as she completed both her high school programs. Her sister, Alya, spoke with excitement about the opportunities the program offered her sister. Delfin’s father praised the high-quality courses and the expertise of her advisors. Mr. Bülent Keçeciler said, “We really appreciated having a contact person with Hudson Global Scholars. They answered our questions and helped us navigate the process of dual enrollment.” The entire Keçeciler family found the program’s facilitation to be friendly, efficient, and advantageous as they championed Delfin.

The tour continues with Kevin Folan, Providence Country Day Head of School.

Delfin was excited to visit the United States for the graduation ceremony. After landing in Boston, Massachusetts, she toured Harvard University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) before traveling to Providence. Following the graduation, Delfin met administrators and teachers. Then, she and her family visited New York City for a few days before returning to Türkiye.

Delfin is awaiting exam scores in Türkiye as she decides which university she will attend in the fall. She plans to study in Türkiye, but is considering graduate study in the United States. The Hudson Global Scholars network has given her a firm foundation as she looks ahead to this bright future. Her academics, contacts, and language skills have expanded and prepared her to live, learn, and work in Türkiye or any English-speaking country with confidence and leadership ability. Her family credits the U.S. Dual Diploma program for accelerating Delfin’s opportunities and broadening her career potential.
